Last night the 2020 WNBA Draft took place virtually due to the current world situation. We’re in the middle of a global crisis that has been triggered by the coronavirus pandemics and all public events are either going on online or they are canceled.
The Shade Room was among the websites that revealed that there was a special tribute in the cards to honor three rising stars in women’s basketball.
Vanessa Bryant took to her social media account to announce that her late daughter, Gianna,, and her two teammates Alyssa Altobelli and Payton Chester will be honorary draft picks at this year’s draft.
The WNBA also honors Kobe, who was passionate about the league and women’s basketball. As you all know, Gianna, Alyssa, and Payton were among the victims that unfortunately lost their lives this year in the helicopter accident.

Vanessa also celebrated mamba Day not too long ago and shared the following message:
‘Mamba Day – My husband worked his ass off for 20 years. Gave it his all. All he wanted was to spend time with our girls and me to make up for lothe st time. He wanted to be there for every single milestone and special moment in our girls lives. He only got to enjoy 3 years and 9 months of retirement. We had two more daughters, he won an Oscar, he opened Granity studios, he became a 5x best selling author and coached Gianna’s basketball team in that time. She worked hard and gave her all seven days a week, just like her daddy. I wish I could go back to that morning, every day. I wish they had a normal local game on 1/26. Life truly isn’t fair. This is just senseless.’
