
Professional Background
Dr. J. Tyler Zorn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Kansas Health System. He brings expertise in all areas of adult cardiac surgery. His chief focus is in the surgical treatment for advanced heart failure such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, short-term and long-term mechanical circulatory support platforms, and heart transplantation.
His research interests include clinical outcomes in heart transplantation, mechanical support for heart and lung failure as a bridge to transplantation and expanding the heart donor pool with DCD hearts utilizing normothermic regional perfusion.
Dr. Zorn graduated from Florida State University College of Medicine. He was accepted to the General Surgery program at Vanderbilt University. There he became the first resident to complete the Joint Cardiothoracic/General Surgery training pathway.
