KFC brings back legendary Zinger Pie in time for AFL, NRL finals

Nothing like a good ol’ Aussie meat pie.

But how about a good ol’ Zinger meat pie.

Yes, the limited-edition item has made a comeback with KFC putting its twist on the Aussie classic.

Golden brown on the outside, the buttery and flaky pastry is filled with KFC’s “famous Zinger chicken and gravy”, and KFC fans seem to be loving it.

Perhaps that’s because the last time they got to wrap their hands around it was back in 2013 when it was first created.

There’s already been more than 18,000 comments and 6000 likes and shares on KFC Australia’s Facebook page since it made the announcement of the comeback this morning.

“My favourite pie in the world never had a better pie leave it on the menu yum also the hot and spicy chicken,” one fan commented.

“This used to be my fav when I worked at KFC, have been waiting for the return for ever!!! Add a little BBQ sauce and mmm,” said another.

“Two of my favourite things!! A pie and a zinger!! Welcome to the future!” a third commented.

KFC decided to bring the pie back in time for the footy finals, and as the games can be quite stressful, there’s no need to get off your couch. You can have it delivered to your door through Menulog and Deliveroo.

“The Zinger pie has been a fan favourite ever since it was first introduced in 2013, with calls for it to make a comeback time and time again,” Kristi Woolrych, CMO at KFC Australia, said.

“So we’re excited to bring this Australian exclusive product back for KFC fans just in time for the footy finals.”

The pie will set you back $5.95 and will be available from September 3 to September 30 in restaurants across Australia — except for South Australia.

It can also be ordered online through the KFC app and for delivery from Deliveroo and Menulog. Delivery charges may apply when ordering via a delivery partner.

Other deals include combo, boxed meal and 2x pie “add on” to a family feast.

But, if you want more deals, why not try this man’s clever tactic.

Earlier this month the Queenslander posted screenshots of his $43.65 order for a 21-piece original recipe bucket to Facebook.

But instead of using the “normal” way to place his order, the savvy customer showed the benefits of using KFC’s “secret menu”.

By using the app’s “build your own bucket” option, he managed to get the same order for just $29.85.

In the order he separated the amount of chicken to, three, six and 12 original recipe pieces, saving him $13.80.

There you have it. Can’t go wrong with a cheaper feed.
